Choosing the Right Pattern and Design for Your Bathroom Tiles

Choosing the tiles you’re going to use in your bathroom is probably the best but the hardest part of redecorating. It’s the most prominent feature of every bathroom, as it sets the overall tone and mood. That is why it is important to plan ahead of time which tiles you’re going to use.

We’ve listed a few things to help you choose the right pattern for your bathroom tiles:

Consider Your Accent Tiles

The very first thing to do when shopping for tiles is to choose the pattern you really love. The rest of your bathroom will then revolve around this tile. It could be a simple plain white tile for a minimalist and posh looking bathroom or quirky mosaic or geometric tiles for a more detail-oriented comfort room.

Three-Tile Rule

Try to not use more than three patterns or types of tile. Typically, you will use three different tiles: for your floor, for your walls, and for the accent tile. If your accent tile has a loud color or design, use more subtle looking tiles to support it. The same way if you’re using plain tiles, use a bit of color on your other tiles to complement it.

Consider Scale

If you have a small bathroom, then opt-out of small tiles, because those will make your bathroom look smaller and cramped. What you can do instead is use large bathroom tiles to create an illusion of space and add more depth.

Think of the Texture

Make sure that your floor tile is smooth and comfortable against your feet, and at the same time, it has enough grip to avoid slip accidents. You can use mosaic tiles or small tiles for your floor because it has additional grouts and are more slip resistance.
